If you have quite a few days in St Petersburg, you might want to explore nearby cities as well. There are a couple of ancient towns around, that look very different from the former imperial capital. They are much smaller and you will never find any opulent brilliance on their streets, but they have their own charm and beauty, and besides, there is a lot of history in every stone. We offer you a day trip to Novgorod – the place where Russia was actually born.
