Day trip from St. Petersburg to Moscow – reasonable planning

If you have 3 or more days in St Petersburg, you might wish to take a day trip to Moscow. Russian capital is not far from us, and is also worth seeing at least once. There are some general tips that will help you to plan your trip and fully enjoy it.

  • There are two basic ways to get to Moscow: by plane and by train. We strongly recommend going by train, as they are more reliable, and the travel time is about the same as flying. Besides, the trains are new, speedy and take you from the center of one city to the center of the other.
  • If you take a day trip, your time in Moscow is very limited. Be realistic and do not plan too much sightseeing.
  • If it is your first time in Moscow, the Kremlin and the Red Square are the musts. Normally it takes about 3 hours for the Kremlin with the Armory and about another hour for the Red Square.
  • If you have time, you might ask your guide to take your down to the metro and see the most beautiful stations. You will be impressed by these underground palaces!
  • It is better to have a pre-arranged lunch in Moscow, as it will save you a lot of time and hassle.
  • Moscow is very crowded, so be very careful with your belongings. Beware of pickpockets!
  • If you have some time left, we recommend you take a stroll in the Alexander’s Garden and see the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It will be a great relaxing ending of a busy day!
  • All in all, just don’t forget your excitement and love for adventures, and you will have an excellent trip! And if you need more help planning, you can always contact us!
